Samsung has officially announced plans to launch a new Galaxy A-series smartphone in India on Wednesday, September 11. In a tweet earlier today, the company said that it will launch a new Galaxy A-series handset in the country later this week, but did not identify the device itself. However, most observers are expecting the company to launch the Galaxy A50s, given that the company has been promoting the device on its India Twitter handle over the past few days....

Back in April, developer Midwinter Entertainment hosted a live test of Scavengers through their experimental sandbox platform called ScavLab. The studio used said platform to host a closed-community test that featured over 1,800 players. Midwinter is currently hosting an open event in a similar vein, which started at 7 PM BT/2 PM ET, in which up to 5,000 players are sharing the same in-game communal hub. The event features plenty of activities for players to participate in, including competitive sports mini-games, large-scale combat, and a live digital AMA with Midwinter CEO and co-founder Josh Holmes....

As players explore the Nova Rock in Chapter 5 of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, they will come to a part of the story that sees them find a Nova Corp helmet. Just announced at the Sony State of Play, JRPG fans can expect a new entry in the Star Ocean franchise. Star Ocean: The Divine Force is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in 2022. Developed by tri-Ace and Square Enix, it is bringing the fantasy-infused sci-fi and fast-paced real-time combat the series is known for. According to the PlayStation Blog post by Square Enix PR Staff member Sho Ishida, Star Ocean: The Divine Force features “a story that changes based on the choices made....

There were a lot of people interested in playing the Star Wars: The Old Republic beta apparently. According to Gamasutra, EA’s CFO Eric Brown claims that around 2.4 million people registered for SWTOR beta testing. “The game itself has a huge pre-existing fan base. We had about 2.4 million people register for the Star Wars fan site, over 2 million of which volunteered to do beta testing for free.” According to the CFO, Thanksgiving weekend had almost three quarters of a million players logging an average of 12 hours over the three day beta....

Star Wars is about to get a little help from Westeros. Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that the next movie will be from David Benioff & D.B. Weiss. Last week it was reported that Disney had scheduled three new Star Wars movies after the upcoming Rise of Skywalker. The dates were December 2022, 2024, and 2026. Although Disney was forthcoming with dates, we were left in the dark as to which ones we’d be getting first....

The villains for Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens have now been revealed. Vanity Fair released some exclusive photos for Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens. As expected by many, it has now been confirmed that Adam Driver will be playing Kylo Ren. Kylo Ren is the guy with the funky looking red lightsaber. In the latest trailer, we also see his silver looking helmet too. The photo that Vanity Fair showed looks at Driver unmasked as he guides some stormtroopers in the snow....

Steam is radically changing the parameters for the content it allows. Following controversies that have raged over the last few weeks over what types of games are allowed on the gaming storefront, Valve’s Erik Johnson has explained the company’s new position: It will allow anything except illegal content or obvious trolling. “Taking this approach allows us to focus less on trying to police what should be on Steam, and more on building those tools to give people control over what kinds of content they see,” Johnson said....

Steam may be constantly competing with the Epic Games Store, but it’s still putting up impressive numbers. We’ve seen the Steam concurrent player count reach new heights a few times over the past few months, and it’s just happened again. According to SteamDB, which tracks player data for Valve’s storefront, Steam’s all-time concurrent player count passed 28 million on January 9 — it reached 28,230,853 in total. That’s nearly 300,000 more than the previous record, which was only set one week ago at the start of 2022....
