Banking on the diversity of PlayStation’s library It looks like Sony is taking a new approach towards filmed entertainment, creating a new studio, aptly titled PlayStation Productions, which does exactly what it sounds like it would: bring PlayStation IPs to film and television. The Culver City-based PlayStation Productions is led by Asad Qizilbash and overseen by Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios chairman Shawn Layden. “We’ve got 25 years of game development experience and that’s created 25 years of great games, franchises, and stories,” Layden told The Hollywood Reporter....
We recently reported that PlayStation Plus subscribers in Europe are to see an increase in the price of monthly and three-month subscriptions. Sony has now confirmed that the UK is the latest region to receive a price increase, starting from September 1st. In a statement given to techradar, Sony confirmed that one month subscriptions would see a small increase from £5.49 to £5.99, and three-month subscriptions will see a bigger increase to £14....
The Sony-owned UK studios Evolution, Guerilla Cambridge and SCE London have today been affected by a staff reduction as part of Sony’s ‘focused restructure’ of their current projects. According to an article on VideoGamer, SCE confirmed that the PlayStation 4 developers have made the decision due to the fact that this will hopefully leave them in the ‘best position to achieve their goals going forward’ – “Regular reviews take place throughout SCE Worldwide Studios, ensuring that the resources that we have in such a competitive business can create and produce high quality, innovative and commercially viable projects,” stated a Sony spokesman....
Playing PS4 games via remote play on a PC/Mac could soon be possible as Sony is working towards releasing an official app for it. SCE Worldwide Studios head, Shuhei Yoshida, tweeted: “Some people asked if we plan to provide Remote Play function to PC, and yes, we are indeed working on an official application for PC/Mac. :D” An unofficial way has been done already be a modder.
