Sony Interactive Entertainment Asia has announced an establishment of a brand new External Development Department in Japan. The External Development Department will offer assistance to developers cooperating with PlayStation over the territory, a role that has been covered by Japan Studio until now. With support for partners coming from this brand new entity, there’s a chance Japan Studio (known for games such as Siren and Gravity Rush) will now return to build more of its games, something Sony might need as it develops its next-gen first-party lineup....

With the sad passing of SpongeBob SquarePants creator Stephen Hillenburg, fans are rallying to find ways to honor his creation. A petition, started by Isreal Colunga, calls for the song “Sweet Victory” to be played during halftime. The song comes from Season Two of the show in an episode titled Band Geeks. In this episode, SpongeBob and his friends form a band and play the song at the Bubble Bowl, which is Bikini Bottom’s version of the NFL championship game....

Believe it or not, Final Fantasy 7 is 25 years old, and on its 25th anniversary, Yoshinori Kitase said they wanted to reveal Part 2 of Final Fantasy 7 Remake at the anniversary, but they couldn’t prepare it. But later, he added that the game would be announced in the coming months of 2022. Final Fantasy 7 is one of the most influential video games in the industry, but for its old mechanism, new gamers weren’t able to enjoy it like modern games....

The Force is strong with the Nintendo Switch as it will soon be receiving a port of the classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic this November. The 46th Saturn Awards were held on Oct. 26. This Awards Ceremony is presented by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films and celebrates the best in the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres. After years of development, following rumors of trouble behind the scenes, a major Xbox One exclusive was cancelled. The ensuing revelations showed that the game was having problems for years, with the relationship between its outside party developer and Microsoft souring, causing issues throughout the game. Sega has revealed a new Split Pad Pro controller fabulously designed with the Blue Blur in mind. Sonic’s controller is courtesy of Hori, the company that has designed Split Pad Pro controllers and other accessories inspired by Super Mario Bros., Pokemon, The Legend of Zelda, and Mario Kart. This way past cool Split Pad Pro controller is fully licensed by both Nintendo and Sega, which explains the blue and white color pattern on the left side of the controller....

This year was seemingly going to be Senran Kagura’s year, with the game not only getting a remake of Senran Kagura Burst, but also a new entry in the series, Senran Kagura 7EVEN: Girls’ Happiness. Unfortunately, a statement made by producer Kenichiro Takaki in a recent interview seems to suggest otherwise and may actually point to the game seeing a bit of a delay. The interview, published in Weekly Famitsu, was done in commemoration of Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal and Takaki used the opportunity to share the latest info about 7EVEN and the series as a whole....

Brutal efficiency is key in the newest Shadow Warrior 3 trailer. Ah, there’s nothing quite like sitting back at your PC, hopping on a gruesome shooter like DOOM, and just blasting away at disgusting enemies for hours as killer soundtracks play in the background. For something so fast-paced and gruesome, it’s surprisingly therapeutic, and a whole lot of fun. The Shadow Warrior series solidly replicates that, while throwing in a bit more humor than you might expect....

Pirate games never go out of style, but Ubisoft is sure trying to push that idea to its limit. SMITE developer Hi-Rez had previously been hinting at an fps boost on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game, but now we have official confirmation that the enhancement will be coming to consoles soon.
