While Sony’s message at E3 2013 was one that nearly brought the house down on Microsoft, they did manage to slip in a change of their own. PlayStation Plus will be required for online play when the PS4 arrives this fall, but the subscription service is far more than just an online pay gate. A recent interview with Sony’s Fergal Gera explained that PlayStation Plus will still function across the family of PlayStation hardware, and it has different implications for each system....

Sony Japan is bringing three Vita titles to North America and Europe. What’s included in the upcoming titles is an RPG, JRPG and an action-adventure. Vita owners may want to take note of three new upcoming titles that are finally getting a release outside of Japan. Developed by Sony’s Japan studio, the three video games heading towards a western release is Freedom Wars, Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines and lastly Soul Sacrifice Delta....

Sony’s VR platform will probably be entering a new generation with PSVR 2, releasing sometime after PS5. PlayStation VR was a great move by Sony during the current generation of gaming platforms, raising hopes for the steady continuation of VR games in the industry. Although the PSVR launch didn’t seem to be promising enough, the more time passed, the more quality games appeared from the company’s first-party studios. The final fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s roster has been revealed, and Kingdom Hearts fans are sure to be pleased. Kingdom Hearts hero Sora is joining the fight. Sora was revealed by game director Masahiro Sakurai’s final Smash Bros. presentation, with a trailer that echoed the original Ultimate reveal. The complete roster was gathered around the Smash Bros. logo in the sky, before Sora himself emerged from a keyhole, fittingly enough....

Wednesday’s episode of South Park brought the announcement of a 25th Anniversary Concert for the series. Red Rocks Park in Colorado will hold the concert for one night only. With the announcement of the concert, the duo also said, This announcement came during a commercial break of the newest episode, “Credigree Weed St. Patrick’s Day Special.” The episode will be available to watch uncensored on HBO Max on Thursday, 8:00 PM est....

Square Enix is responsible for much more than Final Fantasy in 2021 — Marvel’s Guardians of the Guardians released in the fall, as an example — but it’s still Final Fantasy XIV that keeps getting all the attention from the publisher. Nintendo has announced an upcoming live-streaming event in which they will unveil the final version of Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. The stream will be hosted by Nintendo’s Treehouse division and will last eight hours. Gameplay will be streamed via Nintedo’s Twitch channel, and will feature a bunch of games that will be coming to Wii U and 3DS. With the event only four days away this seems to confirm that the game has finished with development and should be ready for its launch on September 13th in Japan and October 3rd in the US and Europe....

Saints Row: The Third fans had expected a new portion of downloadable content to arrive in the coming months titled “Enter the Dominatrix”. Today, Volition announced that they would not be bringing that new piece of content to fans. However, they did say that this content would be included in a brand new full-fledged sequel, tentatively titled Saints Row 4. You’re gonna have to wait a little while for this sequel to arrive....

With Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series taking the last DLC fighter slot in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, the future of the Super Smash Bros. series remains uncertain — according to series director Masahiro Sakurai, that is. Now that the largest fighting roster in the series’ history is filled, there’s no telling where to go from there. In a special interview with Famitsu magazine, with translations by VGC, Sakurai admitted that he’s undecided on whether he’ll produce another installment for the Super Smash Bros....

Independent video game developer AtomicTorch Studio and publisher Daedalic Entertainment have announced April 29 as the official full launch date for colony survival simulator RPG CryoFall. The game will launch on Steam after its Early Access period comes to an end, and is currently priced at $19.99. In case you missed it, CryoFall is a 2D multiplayer sci-fi colony simulator with survival RPG elements. Gameplay centers on your characters’ survival on a forgotten planet, where you are challenged to build a thriving settlement through exploration, trading, agriculture, and industry....
