Upon officially kicking off the Game Developers Conference, the 12th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards were also announced. No big surprise winners, but The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim took home yet another Game of the Year award to add to it’s mounting stack of hardware for the title. Skyrim took home the top honors, but Portal 2 faired well among developers as well. Valve’s puzzling sequel took home multiple awards in game design, audio, and narration....

Sony is anticipating that Horizon: Zero Dawn will be a big franchise because the company has already put plans in place to license the IP for several merchandise products. This report comes from Global License as the game will be at the Brand Licensing Europe event next week. The report says Sony Computer Entertainment Europe plans to release “toys, collectibles, apparel, accessories, publishing and stationery” based on the upcoming game....

The Spirit of the North: Enhanced Edition is giving PS5 users a little something extra to be thankful for this year. Developer Infuse Games and publisher Merge Games announced on Thanksgiving Day the game is now officially available with a digital enhancement on the PlayStation 5. The original Spirit of the North was released on the PS4 almost a year to the day. The Enhanced Edition of the title got an official release date late last month....

Sony has provided more details about the PlayStation exclusives’ launch windows, delaying few of them like Days Gone and Concrete Genie, and fixing Everybody’s Golf release to Spring 2019. The saga of Activision Blizzard’s mistreatment of its employees has been unfolding for some time. A lawsuit alleging sexual harassment was followed by an employee walkout in summer 2021, and that lawsuit is now being settled. As The Washington Post reports, an $18 million settlement has been approved by US District Judge Dale Fischer. “Our goal has always been to provide immediate and meaningful compensation to eligible employees who choose to participate and to continue workplace improvements that make Activision Blizzard a model for our industry,” the company said in a statement to WaPo....

Snipers, marksman rifles, and throwing knives are now in the Gulag. Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 has received its first major mid-season update, bringing a suite of changes, tweaks, and new additions to the incredibly popular free-to-play battle royale game. Sony says a lot of gamers that love shooting games are now switching over to the PS4 console. MCV UK interviewed Lauren Bradley who is the PlayStation group marketing manager. She said that in this generation, “the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4“. Square Enix has recently announced that it will be remaking Final Fantasy VII for the PC. The game will come stock with a handful of features that are exclusive to this PC only remake.
