Sony is tapping their community of gamers for ideas on how to redesign the Dual Shock controller on the PlayStation 3. Sony has taken to the PlayStation Blog to ask for fan suggestions about the design of the new controller. Between now and August 15th, PlayStation gamers can head to the PlayStation Blog to share their ideas. “We want to add to our line-up of Dual Shock 3 colors, but this time wa want you to be the designer,” said Richard Ho, a Product Marketing Manager for Sony....

It appears that hackers have cracked the PlayStation 3 once again, putting Sony in a similar situation that they saw in 2011. This time around, hackers have released the console’s LV0 decryption keys which is said to be a death blow in the fight for Sony to keep the PlayStation 3 secure. Following the security breach of 2011, Sony has done a good job of keeping the system secure, and with pirates and hackers banished to older firmware revisions in order to play “free games”....

Sony’s E3 press conference left much to be desired this year — it was shorter than usual, featured no surprises and many of the titles showcased during the conference lacked concrete release dates. Well, Sony has taken note its fan’s frustrations and has revealed that all of the PS4 exclusive titles that were slated for a 2018 release, will “most likely” be released during the first half of that year....

This year has seen a lot of video game studio sales and acquisitions, and one of the biggest involved Square Enix and its North American branches. The Embracer Group acquired Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal, Square Enix Montreal, and more for $300 million, and with that transaction came multiple video game IPs like Deus Ex and Tomb Raider. One that wasn’t included, however, was Just Cause. Not only did Square Enix hold onto that property, but it also just filed a new trademark for it....

Rare announced that a special closed beta of Sea of Thieves will take place between January 24th and January 29th. You’ll be able to get a taste of pirate adventures in this five day span full of sailing, shanties, and shenanigans. The Sea of Thieves closed beta will be accessible to anyone who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Program before December 1, 2017, and to anyone who has pre-ordered the game....

Sega has announced that they will work with Microsoft’s cloud platform Azure going forward to create their previously announced “Super Game.” This agreement appears to be a partnership between the two companies, with Sega stating that the two will cooperate to “further evolve technologies.” What this will mean for both companies remains to be seen as the press release implies that the so-called Super Game is still many years away. Its development is part of the medium and long-term priorities for Sega, which means that Microsoft will be part of the development environment for it for the next several years....

It did not disappoint. During the recent Shadow of the Tomb Raider reveal event, there was a playable demo available to attendees. If you’ve played the last two Tomb Raider games, then you generally know what you’ll be getting into with this one, but nonetheless, here are my impressions of the small part of the game I was able to sample. The gameplay itself is about what you’d expect. The demo was full of action, platforming and puzzles of the quality we’ve all come to expect from this rebooted iteration of Tomb Raider....

Shenmue III was once again spotted at Magic Monaco 2018, even though a trailer was only available off-screen and the official material coming from the event included just three screenshots. In that occasion, though, series creator Yu Suzuki released few interviews which look rather interesting and give us a further idea of where the franchise is going once this iteration finally comes to life on PlayStation 4 and PC. From the looks of it, Shenmue III is going to feature an open ending so that the team and Suzuki can express their full narrative plan in a fourth, and yet unannounced, chapter....

Above all else, developers tend to prioritize invoking fear in the form of darkness, desolation and jump scares, which is what Frictional Games has succeeded time and again in delivering. But SOMA sets itself apart from its predecessors in delivering one of the greatest, most unique adventures I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing in the genre....

Is Vash the 60 billion double dollar Man or the 6 million dollar Man? The first episode of Trigun Stampede has divided the Trigun fanbase in half. Half of the fans hate it and feel like it is siphoning off the original’s success and is picking it apart, while the other half are telling them to knock it off and just be happy we get more Trigun. While both sides have some very valid points, we can’t help but be disappointed that episode one just proved to us that the creators aren’t interested in creating a Trigun Maximum anime, which is what most fans have been craving for over 20 years....
