The PlayStation 3 may have seen its best releases in the rear view, but, that doesn’t mean the console has no life left in it. According to Sony, they plan to gradually phase out the console as customers transition to the PlayStation 4. “It’s been seven years since the release of the PS3 and the console continues to sell at a constant pace, plus, we have many upcoming titles. We have no intention of immediately shifting from the PS3 to the PS4,” said Sony Japan President Hiroshi Kawano speaking to Famitsu....

For Playstation gamers that prefer to buy digital game codes at retail, Sony has other plans. Starting April 1st, digital game cards that contain full game downloads will be removed from retail stores. This will make the PlayStation Store the only official way to buy digital games for the PlayStation 4. However, buying Playstation Store gift cards will also be another viable option for those reluctant to share their credit card information with Sony....

Suicide Squad is only a week from release in the US, which means that early screenings are starting to occur. The Saved By The Bell revival paid honor to the late Dustin Diamond and his character Samuel “Screech” Powers in the second season premiere. Diamond’s former co-stars Mario Lopez, Elizabeth Berkley, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Tiffani Thiessen, and Lark Voorhies all participated in the tribute. Deadline gave details of the episode which took place after the events of the Peacock series’ season one finale. Zack Morris (Gosselaar) confirms to A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) that he has lost his re-election bid for governor, but brushed it off saying that worse things had happened that year, referring to Screech’s death....

Nintendo has been adamate about the launch of the Wii U in 2012. The company has confirme on multiple occassions that the console will arrive this holiday season, but have yet to officially announce either a month or a day of the release. Common sense tells us that it will likely launch in time for Christmas shoppers to snatch up the new console for their loved ones, but Nintendo has been reluctant to confirm this....

Let the speculation begin. Sega’s European Twitter account promised “something special” for this Thursday, January 14, when they plan to broadcast a live stream on its official Twitch channel. No other details were provided, other than a reminder to set your notifications for when they begin their stream. It’s just as difficult as it is potentially exciting to predict what Sega could have in store for their stream tomorrow. Sony announced yesterday that a host of PS2 games will be playable on the PS4. The company has had to clarify that this is not exactly meaning that backwards compatibility is coming to the console yet. Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, was busy and active on his official Twitter account answering many questions that the PlayStation community threw at him. He had to clarify that the PS2 emulation does not mean backwards compatibility is coming to the PS4 console....

The final DLC character for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been announced to be Sora from the Kingdom Hearts franchise. Sora will be available to purchase and download on October 18th, 2021, along with three newly announced Mii character costumes, including the iconic Doom Slayer from Doom and two Splatoon costumes. The announcement was revealed in this morning’s ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: The Final Battle‘ presentation, with Masahiro Sakurai, Super Smash Bros....

Spiritfarer was easily one of my favorite games of 2020, but I didn’t expect Thunder Lotus Games to reveal a roadmap for 2021. It appears I’ll have a few new reasons to revisit the game and have my heart sundered, because Spiritfarer is about to grow quite a bit throughout the year....

Square Enix has released a new Star Ocean: The Divine Force Mission Report trailer that showcases a character central to the story, D.U.M.A., along with other details. These include the world, combat, and some traversal abilities. A number of sources are reporting that a leaked trailer for Street Fighter V was spotted on YouTube this morning. The highly anticipated Elden Ring even suffered from a minor delay, but Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League may be the next major title to join that list as indicated by a recent Bloomberg report. The upcoming JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes made a surprise debut during the Xbox and Bethesda Showcase that aired during E3 2021. The game’s debut came with a brand new trailer showing off the large cast of characters, plenty of gameplay, and graphics that have been inspired by past 2D/3D hybrid titles such as Octopath Traveler and Project Triangle Strategy.
