Square Enix already made clear that it plans to invest in blockchain technology and NFTs earlier this year. Despite how increasingly unpopular NFTs have become in the ensuing months, Square has stuck to its plans and recently unveiled its first NFT for the Final Fantasy franchise. Of course, it’s related to Final Fantasy VII. Specifically, it’s a digital figure of protagonist Cloud Strife. Thankfully, there is an actual real statue you can purchase from the Square Enix store for $160, but the company is clearly eager for customers to obtain the digital version as well....

Star Wars Battlefront is finally getting some space battle action. The fan requested feature is arriving as part of the Death Star DLC, which puts players right into the iconic end scene from the film. We knew from a previous trailer that space battles had made their way back into the series, but we didn’t know quite how they would work. Now EA and DICE have laid out the details, revealing that the battle will stretch over three distinct parts....

Yesterday we received a ton of new information regarding Respawn’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order game, which releases later this year in November. One of the highlights of the gameplay trailer we watched was getting a glimpse at how the game’s lightsaber combat was going to function. The opening of Super Nintendo World’s Western version, the much-anticipated theme park in the works at Universal, has been delayed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The location in Florida isn’t ready to host millions of visitors at the time being, and looking at the evolution of the coronavirus in the United States, the news doesn’t come as a surprise. Super Nintendo World was expected to open its gates during the 2023 season, but the preparations on the park have been slowed down so much that it will take over three years to complete it....

At its annual developer conference 2021, Samsung took the wraps off many new software and services. The Korean giant has announced various improvements for its Bixby voice assistant, Samsung Health, Samsung Knox security system, and the SmartThings ecosystem. The VGC reports that Sega has shared a presentation that shows the results for the company for the fiscal year ending with March 2022. With the presentation, Sega has revealed that it intends to “significant[ly] increase [the amount of] new titles,” which includes an increase in remakes and remasters. This decision was made due to the strong sales of Sega games on consoles and PC. Among the games that sold exceptionally well in the fiscal year that ended with March 2022 are Sonic Colors Ultimate, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, and Lost Judgment....
