At the end of this generation, or almost there, we’re witnessing a lot of acquisitions by big publishers and platform owners, most likely to prepare and face the challenges of what’s coming next in a continually growing business like gaming. Every time we see a beloved studio acquired we always think that it’s going to be disappointing never to see it go multi-platform when it comes to its next releases, and the same is happening with now-Sony-owned Insomniac Games....

Sony doesn’t plan on releasing too many first-party exclusive games for the PS Vita in the foreseeable future. When the PS Vita first launched, a number of exclusives were released for the powerful portable system. Games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Wipeout 2048 showed just how powerful the system was. At the time, no other portable system was capable of delivering PS3-like graphics on-the-go. During an interview with Polygon however, Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida said the graphical grunt of the PS Vita was no longer a “talking point”....

Microsoft has launched the Spring Update for the Xbox 360 today. The new update supports a new disc format for the Xbox 360 called XGD3 which is said to give extra space to developers, as well as fight the battle on piracy. The update will also incorporate PayPal support into the Xbox Live payment option. This means that U.S. and International Xbox Live users will now have the option to make their purchases with the online payment processor....

Microsoft stunned the masses last year following the announcement of Rise of the Tomb Raider as a ‘holiday 2015 exclusive’ for Xbox platforms. As has been recently revealed, Rise of the Tomb Raider is set to come to PC and PlayStation 4 in early 2016 and holiday 2016 respectively. Rare has extended the Sea of Thieves Closed Beta, now going until Wednesday, January 31st.
