Sony CEO Jack Tretton told Bloomberg in a recent interview that he sees Sony taking the advantage in price as a “positive” thing, but it doesn’t always mean being more successful. “I think ultimately, the gamer looks at ten-year product lifecycles; they look at the software offerings; they look at the value proposition,” Tretton said. “And the lowest priced system isn’t always the most successful, but being cheaper than your competition is never a bad thing....

Though Sony has gone and provided some first information about the PlayStation 5 for its 2020 debut, that doesn’t necessarily mean they have finished with its hardware. A few trademarks indicate that it’s already prepping for the next few consoles in the future. Per this report from Gematsu, Sony has already filed trademarks for the PlayStation 6, PlayStation 7, PlayStation 8, PlayStation 9, and PlayStation 10. They submitted them under their smaller spellings of “PS6” through “PS10”, to avoid confusion....

In continuing to show support of black lives, Sony has added a special Black Lives Matter theme for your PlayStation 4. The new theme adds a yellow and black design with “Black Lives Matter” to your screen. The static theme is available for free, all you have to do is download it from the PlayStation Store. Once downloaded, it changes your screen to a slick black and yellow design with the iconic raised fist and the words Black Lives Matter....

With rumblings of a new subscription service, codenamed Spartacus, dropping on the internet earlier this year, insiders continue to watch the industry and wait for more information on the supposed Game Pass Rvial from Sony Interactive Entertainment. On March 25, Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, reported that Sony has plans to reveal more information on Spartacus next week. He states that Spartacus plans to merge PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus in a new service....

Splash Damage, the developers of Brink, are working on something new. A teaser on the company website suggests that the new game will be revealed on November 29th, 2012 at 11:29. Speculation on what this next title could be is pointing towards a racing game, according to CVG and the Splash Damage Forums, who’ve spotted a placeholder image that is titled “car_teaser”. Back in May, Spotify started testing video podcasts on both mobile and desktop. The podcast creators now had the option to also upload videos accompanying their audio podcasts.
