A first look at upcoming news to celebrate the series’ 30th Anniversary. Sonic Central has announced a live stream with news about Sonic the Hedgehog’s upcoming 30th Anniversary. This year marks a major birthday for the series, and the Sonic Team plans on celebrating with fans. The social media post states that several “first looks” are planned. The team is planning on upcoming announcements, partnerships, plus events. Little additional information was teased with details about the event or the duration of the event....

In a press release, Sony revealed that two new Marvel films have been added to the company’s slate. The first untitled film will release on June 23, 2023, with the other Marvel flick set to drop on October 6, 2023. Sony already has a stacked Marvel slate over the next few years including the long-delayed Morbius movie starring Jared Leto, a Kraven the Hunter solo film led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and the highly-anticipated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse....

George Hotz, among others recently circumvented the PlayStation 3 code to run unauthorized programs, enabling users to use custom firmware on the device that allows many modifications to be made to the system. A very public face in the hacking community, George Hotz is now being sued by Sony for numerous allegations. The Sony legal team has drafted up a Motion for a temporary Restraining Order, Order to Show Cause, and Order of Impoundment for George Hotz, Hector Martin, and Sven Peter the three men responsible for the PS3 hacking scene....

Insomniac Games and Sony have revealed the release schedule for the three-part The City That Never Sleeps DLC for the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man. The first DLC, called “The Heist”, is releasing on October 23. “As you play the base game, you’ll realize that Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, is back in town and she’s leaving clues around town to toy with Spider-Man,” says a post on PlayStation Blog....

Nintendo keeps adding new content to Splatoon via free DLC, and though some of the items might have been on the disc originally, spacing it all out like this has given players great reasons to jump back into the game each week. That continues today with the addition of a new weapon fashioned after a paintbrush. The Inkbrush will arrive inside the weapon shop today for free (at least in real world money), where players can give it a try and find out if it works for them....

Nintendo announced back in May that they would be releasing new, and official Gamecube controllers for the release of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. The new, and specially branded, controllers have just popped up for pre-order over on Best Buy’s website for a retail price of $29.99. Q4 for Switch, Unspecified date for PC. SNK and Athlon Games have announced that Samurai Shodown will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in June, while the Switch and PC will get it at a later date. It will include Japanese voice-overs and feature English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Korean, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Pan-American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese subtitle language options. According to the announcement, Samurai Shodown, as previously surmised, will be a reboot of the franchise....

Rare will be taking players deep under the ocean for Season Four of its pirate-themed game Sea of Thieves. In Season 4 there will be six unique Siren Shrines that players can explore under the water. Shrines function as explorable dungeons where gamers can explore and solve puzzles. Each Shrine is unique and houses treasure worth plundering. Last week Rockstar Games explained that Hurricane Sandy delayed trailer number two for GTA V.
