Sony has confirmed that Zipper Interactive, the creators of the SOCOM series, are being shutdown. Rumors surfaced last week that the developer may be shuttering, after numerous titles failed to meet lofty expectations. Zipper confirmed the rumors, bidding fans a farewell via Twitter. “After 17 years it’s time to head off into the sunset. A sincere than you to all our fans for everything you’ve done for us. Farewell.” Sony plans to continue supporting Zipper titles, as their most recent release just hit store shelves with Unit 13....

SCEA is continuing its free money giveaway on the PlayStation Network. Lucky users will turn on their PS3 to find that there PSN accounts have been credited with $10 in cash that can be spent in the PlayStation Store. The credits aren’t going out to everyone, according to Sony. And a statement on the matter doesn’t actually reveal who Sony is determining who gets the free cash. “While we don’t disclose the exact criteria used, we can say that select active PSN users were chosen to receive an XMB message that included credit for their SEN Wallet as part of this special promotion....

Sony’s acquisition of Bungie is the news of the week, with more information coming out daily. Furthering the company’s plan to use Bungie as a way to aid their live service games, Sony has confirmed in a recent earnings report that it plans to use one-third of the $3.6 billion dollars on retention of current employees. These reports come from an FY Q3 2021 report from Sony itself, outlining the Bungie acquisition in more financial detail....

Auto run is enabled by default, but you can change it. Spelunky 2 improves on the original in almost every way, including the addition of auto run so you don’t have to hold down a button to sprint anymore. If you’re used to the way the first game played, then you might want to disable auto run and swap back to the way things used to be. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to do that....

If you want to shoot paint with your bullets, there is no standalone version, but it is built into all Rampart weapons bought at Big Maude, the Rampart Town Takeover on World’s Edge....

With seven years passing since the release of its predecessor on mobile, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II – The Sith Lords will finally follow suit. On December 18, the 2004 Obsidian Entertainment-developed RPG will be available on both the App Store and Google Play Store. Now, the release date for the game has reportedly been leaked within the PlayStation database. When the trailer for Sonic Frontiers was showcased at The Game Awards, Sega said the game would be released around the next holiday....

Endnight Games is delaying the horror survival game Sons of the Forest. The team made the announcement on social media saying more time was needed to finish the sequel to The Forest. The upcoming open-world survival game was originally scheduled to release in May of 2022. The delay is pushing the release all the way to October. However, the post did not say exactly what day it was going to come out....

Series veteran Siegfried Schtauffen returns. Bandai Namco has released a trailer for SoulCalibur 6 confirming the return of one of the series’ most important characters: Siegfried Schtauffen. Siegfried has been a part of the Soul series since the very beginning (a feat only matched by Nightmare, Cervantes and Mitsurugi) and has always been deeply involved in the overall plot due to his bond with Nightmare and the Soul Edge. With the exception of SoulCalibur 2 where he appeared as unlockable/alternate costumes for Nightmare, Siegfried has been available as a playable character wielding a massive Zweihänder in a desperate bid to atone for his past....

The newest mode in Splatoon 3 is the Big Run event. Similar to Splatfests, a Big Run is a special event that will occur where the Salmonids take over the stages in Splatoon 3 and players have to play Salmon Run in that particular area during the duration of the event. Big Runs last throughout the weekend and an hour after finishing, the results will be broadcasted on Anarchy Splatcast....

From San Diego Comic Con came the details for Episode II of the groundbreaking Star Wars Virtual Reality experience called Vader Immortal. ILMxLAB’s VPR experience led players through being captured by the Empire and using a lightsaber to deflect stormtrooper blasts. It ended with being confronted by Darth Vader himself and players having the lightsaber ripped from their hands by the Force. Ultimately Vader proposes that players help him in his quest to search for an ancient artifact....
