It’s a sad day for the Nickelodeon family. TMZ reports that actor Kirk Baily is dead at the age of 59. The actor was best known for his role of Kevin Ug Lee on Nickelodeon’s Salute Your Shorts, a live-action comedy series based on the summer adventures of a group of kids at fictional Camp Anawanna. According to TMZ, Kirk Baily’s died from lung cancer on February 28th, just 6 months after being diagnosed. Since the passing of his death was announced, fans took to Twitter to express their empathy.

Fans pay tribute to Kirk Baily
Kirk William Baily was born in NYC on February 2nd, 1963. Before moving to LA to pursue acting full-time, Baily was a star athlete in high school. He studied improv at The Groundlings Theatre & School, whose alumni include Will Ferrell, Kathy Griffin, Phil LaMarr, and Lisa Kudrow. Despite being known for his role as the ditzy camp counselor on the cult classic Nickelodeon sitcom, Baily began his career in entertainment as a voice actor in the hit 80s anime Mobile Suit Gundam I, a career path he would follow up until last year.
Throughout his four-decade-long career, Bailey lent his vocal talents to popular anime (Vampire Princess Miyu, Trigun, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex), animated films (ParaNorman, Frozen, Big Hero 6), and video games (Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force, Shadow Hearts: Covenant). Kirk’s diverse portfolio also included music composition and post-product work in Killer Klowns from Outer Space, Prometheus, and Within films. Before he died, Kirk Baily’s last project was Night Of The Animated Dead.
In addition to being an accomplished voice-over artist, Kirk Baily died a dedicated brother, husband, and friend who still kept in touch with most of the cast and crew of Salute Your Shorts on Nickelodeon.
