It seems more and more likely that if there is a horror movie, Samara Weaving will be in it as she has been cast in Azrael, as reported by Deadline. The action-horror film will be directed by Evan Katz (The Haunting of Bly Manor), with You’re Next writer Simon Barrett penning the script. The producers are planning for this to be the start of a franchise.

Jason Cloth and Dave Caplan will produce and finance the film with Cloth as an executive producer with Katrin Kissa. Barrett and Dan Kagan will produce Azrael as Samara Weaving leads the film.

No plot or character details are known right now.

Samara Weaving continues horror movie train with Azrael

Starting small with the two Babysitter movies with Netflix and her breakout hit with Ready or Not, Samara Weaving has become quite the scream queen, with Azrael being the latest on the pile of scary projects. She was also in the star-studded Hulu series Nine Perfect Strangers, with stars like Melissa McCarthy, Nicole Kidman, Michael Shannon, and Bobby Cannavale.

With Azrael, Samara Weaving is looking at continuing her blood-soaked acting career. After the success of Scream 2022 with the directors of Ready or Not, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, she will rejoin them for Scream 6, which is set to release next year. She will also star in the thriller Borderline from Babysitter: Killer Queen writer Jimmy Warden, who will write and direct the upcoming film.

Not everything is spoopy for nonhorror fans who want to see what the hype is all about regarding the Australian star. She will be in Babylon with Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Olivia Wilde, and Jean Smart. She will be in the biopic Liz, based on the American socialite Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte. She will also star in the TV series, Down the Rabbit Hole.
