Santa Monica Studio has now confirmed it is developing a new God of War game on PS4, although won’t be revealing anything for it yet.
Santa Monica Studio’s Creative Director Cory Barlog confirmed this while answering fan questions at the PlayStation Experience event this weekend in Las Vegas.
Balrog just confirmed the development for God of War on PS4, but didn’t share anymore details beyond that. When IGN asked him more about the game, he said we won’t hear more about the game until “the next year or two”.
Balrog didn’t even want to tell anyone what the new God of War game on PS4 will be about. He didn’t want to say if this is another prequel, or even a sequel or reboot of the series. He didn’t even want to admit if Kratos will be back in the series.
With all the new games being revealed this weekend, it’s likely God of War is taking a backseat until 2016 or beyond. 2015 is a crowded year already so it would make sense to hold off some other big games for the future.
In either case, God of War for PS4 is in the very early stages of development so it will be a long wait for fans to get to play it.
