Sarah Michelle Gellar has officially released the first photo of her character in Wolf Pack, an upcoming series by Teen Wolf creator Jeff Davis. The series, which also marks Gellar’s return to the horror genre after her longtime role as Buffy Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has reportedly been confirmed for release in January of next year, per Gellar’s social media.

Wolf Pack borrows its inspiration from a dark fantasy novel series of the same name by Edo Van Belkom. First published in 2004, the series follows a park ranger and his wife who recover a litter of wolf pups after a forest fire, only to discover that the pups aren’t normal wolves by any means. The series will feature Armani Jackson (Honor Society) and Bella Shepard (The Wilds) as Everett and Blake, a pair of teenagers whose lives are turned upside down when a wildfire “awakens a terrifying supernatural creature”, according to Deadline.

First announced to be joining the cast of Wolf Pack in July 2022, Sarah Michelle Gellar will be starring as Kristin Ramsey, an arson investigator with layers of secrets who Gellar herself has reportedly called “a tough nut to crack.” Gellar took to her Instagram earlier today to release the first photographs of her character, showing Kristin Ramsey decked out in her work jacket, standing in deep woods, silhouetted from the front by a bright light.

“Meet Kristin Ramsey…coming January 2023,” the caption reads.

Sarah Michelle Geller on Accepting ‘Wolf Pack’

Wolf Pack officially marks Sarah Michelle Gellar’s return to the horror genre for the first time since 2003, when she concluded her run as the protagonist of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a show that could reasonably be called the foundation of many modern supernatural horror shows, like the CW’s Supernatural. However, despite her impact on the genre, Gellar has revealed that initially, she had no intention of saying yes to Wolf Pack, but upon reading the script provided by series creator Jeff Davis, eventually came around.

Additionally, Gellar told Today that she accepted her role in Wolf Pack because of the level of action given to Kristin Ramsey, guaranteeing fans that she will not be a wallflower. “And, it afforded me time with my children at the same time,” she added, “and it just seemed like the right fit on every level.”

Wolf Pack, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kristin Ramsey, hails from Teen Wolf writer Jeff Davis. The series is currently set to premiere in January of 2023.
