The all-star cast of Bradley Cooper’s next directed film, Maestro, will gain one other major star with comedian Sarah Silverman, as reported by Deadline. In the report, it is said that she will play Bernstein’s sister, Shirley. She will be joining Cooper, Carey Mulligan (Promising Young Woman) as Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre, Maya Hawke (Stranger Things) as the composer’s daughter Jamie, and Matt Bomer (Doom Patrol) for an unknown role, according to Deadline.

In her career, Sarah Silverman became a huge star in the comedy world. Between Masters of Sex and the 2015 film I Smile Back, she has had some dramatic roles. With this being the directorial follow-up from Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born from 2018 and the ever-growing cast of A-listers, it should make for good room for her to grow this part of her acting abilities.

A Look at Maestro

On Monday (May 30), Netflix released a first look at the upcoming biopic. It showed Cooper and Mulligan in their respective roles. The film will focus on the two actors by following their character’s relationship, starting in 1946 when the couple met at a party. The story will cover about 30 years to show the development of their relationship that grew into marriage and parenting.

Above acting and directing, Cooper will produce and write the film with co-writer Josh Singer (Spotlight). Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Todd Phillips (Joker), Kristie Macosko Krieger (West Side Story), Amy Durning (Law & Order: Organized Crime), and Fred Berner will produce. The Bernstein family is also involved with the project.

Leonard Bernstein had a career as a composer and conductor for over 40 years. Some of his most notable works include West Side Story, Peter Pan, On the Town, and Candide.

Bradley Cooper’s Netflix biopic Maestro is currently in production and will release sometime in 2023 on Netflix. No theatrical run has been confirmed.
