Surreal Sci-Fi adventure game Elea is coming to the PlayStation 4 later this month.  I’ve never heard of the game, but it was originally released on Steam and Xbox One last year. It has received mixed reviews on those platforms. People seem to praise the visuals but complain about the pace and obtuse storytelling. Elea did receive nominations by the Central & Eastern European Game Awards for “Best Audio”. And for the “Best Game Music 2018” category by the Game Audio Awards. You can check out the trailer below.

This new release of Elea will be launching with a large update to the game featuring many bug fixes and improvements. These are actually some pretty significant changes. New asset, lighting, graphical enhancements, and faster movement speed have all be mentioned. It even features a new save system that features more checkpoints. Sounds like a pretty big change. Of course, the PC and Xbox One versions of Elea will be receiving an update that gives them all of this as well.

What is exclusive to the PlayStation version are PlayStation 4 Pro enhancements. Thes include an increased resolution. Going from dynamic 1080p on the PS4, to dynamic 4K on the PS4 Pro. In addition, on the Pro, there are better visual effects like high-quality reflections, anisotropic filtering, and shadows. So, not too shabby. Definitely a pretty big improvement. Especially for a game that looks to create an immersive environment.

Elea will be available on July 25th. There was no mention of price in the press release. But it currently goes for $9.99 on Steam, so I’d expect it to be around the same on the PlayStation Store. Wether or not you’re into adventure or walking simulator style games, it’s hard to argue with the support Elea has received from its developers. That alone might make it worth checking out.
