Today the developers of sci-fi game The Station has announced that the game will launch on February 20 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux. The game offers players the chance to uncover the mystery surrounding a space station that has suddenly gone dark, with no signs of any activity or from the crew. The main character explores the deadly silent station equiped with an Augmented Reality device that will reveal to him the visual and audio logs from the crew members, helping him understand what really happened aboard.

The news have been shared via PlayStation Blog, in which the creative director Kevin Harwood explains that the AR device is also an essential tool to communicate with the systems of the station in order to solve puzzles and explore the different areas. The maps, inventory, and objectives list are available through a TAB menu that offers a holographic representation of the menu in real time. As long as the room in which we are standing is big enough, the character will be able to set up this menu in order to access maps in search of any missed spots.

Here’s an official synopsis of the game: “How would you react if we discovered a sentient alien civilization, challenging everything we know about biology, chemistry, physics, religion and answering the questions man has asked throughout history? But what if this sentient alien civilization was discovered in a state of civil war? Determining that the rewards outweigh the risks, an undetectable space station with a small three-person crew deploys to research the alien culture in search of a means towards a peaceful relationship. Unable to contact the crew, a recon specialist to sent to uncover what happened. What players discover will challenge their view of surveillance, imperialism and moral law.”

The Station launches on February 20 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac, and Linux for $14.99. Watch the trailer below.
