It is shaping up to be one of the best 10th anniversaries, the Scott Pilgrim v.s. The World universe is finally returning to players’ hands after six years of dormancy. The series has laid dormant for some time until the cast from the film adaptation reunited for a table read last month. After so much speculation and anticipation considering the series’ long-lasting impact, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game is finally getting a re-release. After over ten years since its original debut on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the beloved arcade classic vanished less than four years after its release. Announced earlier today at Ubisoft’s ‘Ubisoft Forward’ event, they showed a full trailer featuring changes and updates.

Scott Pilgrim v.s. The World Complete Edition will feature two new playable characters. Acting as add-on DLC, the new playable characters include Knives Chau, Scott’s untimely ex-girlfriend, and his roommate, Wallace Wells. Two very iconic characters from the comic and film are finally coming to the brawling action with their own unique beat-em-up style. There’s also a decent amount of polish on the title, with some interesting graphics and animations for new knockouts and evil ex encounters. Wrapped up in the small RPG elements that enhance the way Scott and his friends fight, the new release thankfully preserves the original’s best moments. The world of Scott Pilgrim has never looked brighter, with more additions to the already charming original release.

It’s truly a fascinating return for the series’ 8 bit glory days thanks to the epic animation work by Paul Robertson. Featuring the iconic local and online co-op, players will experience this beloved classic all over again. Coming to all major consoles and PC this holiday, the franchise is finally back from the arcade roots that gave it a chance. At only $14.99, this release is one you won’t want to pass up later this year.
