Scovillain, the evolved form of Capsakid, is a Grass- and Fire-type Spicy Pepper Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This two-headed pocket monster is innately equipped with the Abilities: Chlorophyll, Insomnia, and Moody. Chlorophyll allows sunlight to bolster Scovillain’s Speed IV, and Insomnia ensures that the Spicy Pepper Pokémon can never be inflicted with Sleep. While both Chlorophyll and Insomnia are beneficial for battle, the Hidden Ability Moody is a double-edged sword. Moody increases a random IV by two stages but lowers another by one stage. This occurrence takes place at the end of each turn. Players should keep this Hidden Ability in mind whenever facing Scovillain in the wild or Trainer Battle arena.

How to Counter Scovillain in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

To counter Scovillain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Trainers must understand this Spicy Pepper Pokémon’s primary elemental weaknesses. Since this pocket monster is a Grass- and Fire-type entity, it is vulnerable to Poison-, Flying-, and Rock-type Movesets. Conversely, Trainers should avoid using Grass-, Electric-, Steel-, or Fairy-type Moves against this two-headed creature.

Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Best Dondozo Counters and Weaknesses

Trainers at Pro Game Guides suggest that Flying- or Poison-type counters are better to use against Scovillain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet since these elemental types tend to have high-Speed Pokémon. The Spicy Pepper Pokémon’s HP, Defense, and Special Defenses IVs are quite low, leaving it vulnerable to speedy attacks. On the other hand, players who do not have any adequately leveled Flying- or Poison-type pocket monsters can use Rock-type combatants instead. Rock-type units tend to be slower, but many will be able to tank Scovillain’s attacks before retaliating with a powerful strike.

Accordingly, two excellent counters for Scovillain in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet would be the Rock- and Poison-type Glimmora, the Flying- and Fire-type Iron Moth, or the Rock- and Dark-type Tyranitar. Glimmora can be acquired by evolving Glimmet at Level 35. Glimmet is a rare Ore Pokémon that can be found in Paldean caverns. Iron Moth is a Violet exclusive that only appears in the post-game Area Zero, within The Great Crater of Paldea. Finally, Tyranitar is the third evolution of the Larvitar family. Larvitar can be found in dry areas like East Province (Area Three) and evolves into Pupitar at Level 35. Pupitar becomes Tyranitar at Level 55.
