The teaser trailer for John Wick: Chapter 4 was released at the San Diego Comic-Con Friday during a panel. The Hollywood Reporter breaks down the trailer, which features Keanu Reeves as the title character, being asked, “Have you given any thought to where this ends?” Later the formerly retired hitman is told, “No one, not even you, can kill everyone.” The trailer features sequences of John in training to John in battle. Bowery King (Lawrence Fishburne) asks John if he’s ready, to which John replies, “Yeah.” While we’re not sure what John is ready for, fans who have endured repeated delays are ready to see John Wick back in action.
Teaser Features Variety of Weapons
Variety reports that the teaser trailer for John Wick 4 features Wick as a man able to gain revenge with any weapon he can get. We see him yielding guns, an ax, samurai swords, and even nunchucks in this action-packed trailer. Lionsgate appears to be holding nothing back with this new film, and one can’t blame them since each film in the series outdoes the previous entry at the box office. Each film has fared well financially and critically, and time will tell if the long-awaited John Wick 4 will have the same success.
John Wick 4’s Curious Title
The previous John Wick sequel’s featured the titles John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. Interestingly, this new trailer is simply billing the film as John Wick. With this title and Wick being asked where things will end, audiences may wonder if this is director Chad Stahelski teasing the final film in the series. Reeves and Stahelski are just taking it “chapter by chapter.”
The movie is expected to release on March 24, 2023. A spin-0ff series, Ballerina, is also on the way.
