There have been many, many, many Monopoly sets released over the game’s long lifespan. A lot of them have been adaptations of various games, and Rare’s Sea of Thieves is the latest one to get the Monopoly treatment, with the special edition board being available for purchase on the Rare Store.

The board game adaptation of Rare’s online pirate game will feature currency, destinations, and events from the video game. Even the pieces are custom-fit for Sea of Thieves, with players being able to choose from a skull, a ship, or a compass to name a few examples.

Players who buy the Monopoly set of Sea of Thieves will also get a bonus in the video game. People who buy the set will get a DLC code for the Golden Macaw pet to use in-game. Sea of Thieves has opened up customization of their characters with the addition of pets, and using the code that comes with the set will allow players to get ahead of the Gold Macaw releasing to the wider player base later in the year.

This marks the latest entry into the ongoing story of Sea of Thieves. The game came out and was initially underwhelming, similar to how No Man’s Sky was received at launch. However, like No Man’s Sky, Rare has quietly been adding content over time and has become a great time in its own right, especially as part of Xbox’s great-value Game Pass service. Rare delivered on updates on a frequent basis before switching to seasonal updates. Their most recent content update, titled the Festival of Giving, came out last month for the Christmas holiday period.
