Sony has released the second trailer for the upcoming Uncharted film and it looks like an awesome adventure featuring an exciting battle for a long-lost treasure. The new two-minute trailer gives us even more glimpses at Tom Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan, who is also now donning the iconic mustache from the games. We also see more of Antonio Banderas’ character, who appears to be the villain, chasing the same treasure as our heroes.

Based on the popular video game franchise, Uncharted follows Nathan Drake and Sully as the two go on multiple, crazy adventures to find lost treasure and cities that have been hidden away, only known about through myths. In these games, they are usually chased by a powerful villain with a massive army. These games feature intellectually challenging puzzles and impressive action sequences in unique environments.

In this Uncharted trailer, we see the airplane cargo sequence where Holland’s Drake is hopping through the cargo to get back to the plane. Game fans will recognize this sequence from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. A new sequence shown in this trailer is a battle that takes place on two pirate ships being airlifted via helicopters. Not only does this scene look impressive, but it’s something entirely different from anything seen in a film or in any of the games before.

Video game movies do not have a great track record, but Uncharted really lends itself to a film adaptation. Hopefully, this is the adaptation that finally gets it right. It is also not the only Naughty Dog game currently being adapted as The Last Of Us is being made into a TV show for HBO.

Uncharted is directed by Ruben Fleischer, who previously directed Venom and both Zombieland films. Additional cast members include Sophia Taylor Ali as Chloe Frazer and Tati Gabrielle as Braddock.

Uncharted will land in theaters on February 18, 2022.
