One of the big new mechanics in Fortnite for Chapter 2 Season 5 is Gold. You can earn gold in various ways, and use it to take advantage of services provided by 40 different NPCs that can be found all over the map.
One great way to get your hands on some gold is from secret stashes that are hidden around the map. These show up in lots of different locations all around the map, but it does seem to be a regular spot in specific spots on the map that should appear for all players.
When you are searching for them, they will show up on your HUD as a regular chest, if you have the visual audio indicator turned on in your options. This makes them much easier to find. They look like a grey metal safe, not a regular chest, so are easy to identify. If you find one and open it, you will earn 100 Gold.
At the moment, we don’t know all the locations, but we do have some spots that you should check because we have already found chests there.
Hunter’s Haven
In the large building on the east side of town in Hunter’s Haven, in a bedroom on the second floor.
The Butter Barn
If you visit the Butter Barn, when Mancake hangs out, you can find one in the office upstairs.
Retail Row
In the building beside the Detective Agency where sleuth can sometimes be found.
We are not currently sure if these spawn points are fixed, or if the safes can show up anywhere a normal chest can spawn. Interestingly, we have never seen a normal chest spawn in the same spots that we found these, and we have never had one spawn back in a spot if we already discovered it. We will continue to update this guide as we learn more about these safes.
