We’re used to seeing Microsoft acquire new studios, but it looks like SEGA is capable of doing something similar to that, too.
The Japanese publisher has indeed announced that it has finalized the acquisition of Two Point Hospital developer, Two Point Studios. The team was only started in 2016, despite founders being veterans of the industry, so it was very quick in getting the acknowledgment of its quality.
The game, a Theme Hospital spiritual sequel that was released last year, has been praised by critics and overall appreciated by the public, thus leading SEGA to make the move.
“It’s a landmark step for Two Point Studios, and we’re thrilled to be joining the Sega family,” co-founder, former Lionhead dev Mark Webley said.
“We’re looking forward to executing the next phase of our plans as we continue to evolve Two Point County. It’s a hugely exciting time to be a part of Two Point, and we are here today thanks to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our small, but amazingly talented team here in Farnham and the incredible fans that have supported us throughout and guided our continued development of Two Point Hospital.”

SEGA has shared that Two Point Studios has multiple unannounced games in the making and that we’ll learn more about them in the coming months. Also, it has plans for more acquisitions in the future led by SEGA Europe’s Searchlight program.
Studios already part of the family include, but are not limited to, Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive and Relic Entertainment, all great teams with a focus on PC gaming.
