The answer is of course a resounding YES!!!

Yakuza Kiwami 2, a remake of Sega’s 2006 entry in the Yakuza series, released world wide yesterday to pretty fantastic reviews, including ours. Along with the release, Sega have also sent out a survey asking gamers if they want more. DUH!

You can take the survey yourself to help the Yakuza cause, because of course we want more Yakuza. We’ve had remakes now of 1 and 2, with 3, 4 and 5 confirmed for Japan. Perhaps support here will ensure that these make it to the West.

The questions ask:

  • How interested are you in purchasing remasters/remakes of  existing Yakuza games?
  • How interested are you in purchasing new games set in the world of Yakuza?
  • How interested are you in purchasing created by the Yakuza team in other worlds, like the upcoming Fist of the North Star game?
  • How interested are you in purchasing the various spin-off titles that have never received Western release?

In terms of new games, so far we know of Shin Ryū Ga Gotoku, which is effectively Yakuza 7 and as for of spin-offs, there are plenty the west didn’t get, including: Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan! (an Edo period drama Yakuza!), Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Shinshō, Kurohyō: Ryū ga Gotoku Ashura Hen and Ryū ga Gotoku Ishin!

The only one we did see was 2012’s Yakuza: Dead Souls.

If you haven’t been following the team’s upcoming Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, it’s the Yakuza team’s latest freak baby: a beautiful creation combining Yakuza, Madworld, Bruce Lee, Mad Max and a dollop of Dragon Ball Z. It’s an utterly over-the-top action adventure game where you play as martial artist, Kenshiro, in search of your beloved in a post-apocalyptic wasteland and you should definitely check it out, considering it earned a 35/40 from Famitsu when it launched in Japan earlier this year.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is out now for PS4 and Fist of the North Star is coming to western PS4s on October 2nd.
