Sega has announced that it will be bringing Hokuto no Gotoku westward as Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise this fall. It will debut as a digital release in both North America and Europe.

The game, based on the cult classic Fist of the North Star series, was developed by Ryu ga Gotoku Studio, the minds behind the excellent Yakuza games. It’ll thrust players into the role of Fist of the North Star protagonist and resident badass Kenshiro as they explore a post-apocalyptic wasteland rife with plenty of thugs just cruisin’ for a bruisin’.

Kenshiro uses the ancient martial art of Hokuto Shinken to rip through his opponents, with his signature cry of “You are already dead!” after targeting his enemies’ vital points to make them literally explode. It’s really something to see. This version of the game will feature everything previously available in the original Japanese version, as well as a full English voiceover dub and “additional carnage” for the Western edition. It should be filled to the brim with plenty of deliciously violent combat for fans of the series.

It’ll feature similar third-person brawler combat much like Yakuza adopted, with a generous amount of bloody, gory goodness just like the anime and manga series. The game will explore an alternate version of the official Fist of the North Star canon as well, as Kenshiro sets off on a journey for his lost love named Yuria. Fortunately, however, even if you haven’t read the manga or seen the anime series in any of its iterations.
