August 2021 is here to wrap up the end of Pokémon Go’s Season of Discovery. With the Pokémon Go Fest 2021 behind us, we’re looking to see what Niantic has up its sleeves for the rest of August. For the Research Breakthrough, the Pokémon we’re receiving for this month will be Chimecho, the evolved form of Chingling.

The start of the Season of Mischief has begun in September 2021, and Pokémon Go fans are eager to capture Hoopa, the featured Pokémon for the season. For the month of September, players who complete any of their daily changes have the opportunity to encounter the breakthrough Pokémon, Ditto.

You can start catching Ditto on September 1, 2021, at 1 PM PT. If you want to turn in your final research task token to catch Chimeco, the previous month’s Research Breakthrough Pokémon, you have to do it before this time. Any completed research breakthroughs you make after August 1 will be a Ditto encounter.

Ditto is a Normal-type Pokémon, and it has no evolution form. It is only weak against Fighting-type moves, and it is only resistant against Ghost-type moves. It has a maximum CP of 940, an attack of 91, a defense of 91, and a stamina of 134. For PvP, it has a maximum CP of 940, an attack of 89, a defense of 89, and a stamina of 125. Unfortunately, it’s not the best Pokémon in the game, and we highly recommend considering it a Pokédex filler.

Ditto does have a shiny version, which was released during Pokémon Go Tours: Kanto earlier this year. However it was only available for that event, and it is considered to be shiny locked. That means Niantic will notify players when a shiny version is available. You’ll need to complete a Field Research task once a day to earn a stamp. Once you earn all seven stamps for the week, you’ll encounter Chimeco on the seventh day, and you’ll earn a large boost of XP and Stardust.
