Chris Noth, known for playing Mr Big on Sex and the City, has been dropped by his agency. This comes amid three women accusing the actor of sexual assault.
Deadline reports that a spokesperson for A3 Artists Agency said that Noth was no longer one of the agency’s clients. Noth had only signed with the agency three months ago. His dropping occurred after two women accused him of sexual assault. A third accuser has since come forward.
Noth is known for his portrayal of John James “Mr. Big” Preston, love interest to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Brashaw, on the HBO series Sex and the City. The recurring character made several appearances throughout the 1998-20o4 run of the original series, and he appeared in both subsequent movies. He also appeared in the pilot of the new Sex and the City revival series And Just Like That… where the character died of a heart attack on his Peleton bike. Peleton featured Noth in an ad in which the character is revealed to be alive, but in the midst of the allegations, that ad has been discontinued.
Noth has denied the charges that have been made against him.
Sexual assault is becoming more and more prevalent in the Film and TV industry. Earlier this year Fantastic Beasts star Kevin Guthrie was sentenced to three years in prison for assault. Noth is far from the first to face these accusations, and given the patterns of the last few years, it is unlikely he will be the last.
