The Shadow of the Colossus movie that is still in production and has finally found a new director.

Sony Pictures announced that Andrés Muschietti will helm the film adaptation of Shadow of the Colossus. Muschietti is most famously known for directing the movie Mamma which starred Jessica Chastain. He replaces Josh Trank of Chronicle fame who was previously attached to the film. Trank is now going on to direct The Fantastic Four reboot and an upcoming Star Wars spin-off.

The script is being written by Seth Lochhead who wrote the movie Hanna. Muschietti however will still have a say in how the movie will be written. It will be interesting how they can flesh out the Shadow of the Colossus movie into a workable script. The original game had virtually no dialogue, but still had a touching story.

Sony has been trying to get the Shadow of the Colossus movie off the ground since 2009. Five years on and they are still making little steps. Hopefully Muschietti can get production going to the movie is actually made. There’s been many video game movies that have been in production hell in recent years. The Halo movie never took off and Uncharted is still ongoing too. Hopefully Shadow of the Colossus bucks this trend and is actually made.
