Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a pretty good-looking game, there’s no doubt about that. Its predecessors, Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider weren’t exactly graphical slouches either. Now though, the latest entry in the classic gaming franchise is getting a graphical patch for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles. The new graphical patch will improve the quality of the game’s visuals for the next-generation consoles, but most importantly, allow the game to run at 4k and 60fps.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider had previously seen enhancements through Xbox’s FPS Boost system that enhanced previous-generation games for the Xbox Series X|S consoles, but this graphical patch will make things a bit more official and optimized for those consoles. The PlayStation 5 had not really had a treatment like this before, aside from the backward compatibility mode that allows PS4 games to run and look slightly better on PS5, but now this graphical update will make Shadow of the Tomb Raider stack up to some especially great looking games on current-gen hardware.

The 4k 60fps graphical update for Shadow of the Tomb Raider should be out now for the current-gen consoles, so if you’d been on the fence about giving the game a shot, then maybe this was the kick that you needed to give it a shot. In our review, we liked the game, especially its “nonstop peril, action, fear, and intrigue”. Although it might have been the weakest in its trilogy, it was still a great experience for any action-adventure fan. And now that the Uncharted series has seemingly hung up its boots, there’s no better time to check out the series that serves as an inspiration to many a game in today’s world.
