It’s true. The superhero duo known as Sharkboy and Lavagirl from Robert Rodriguez’s 2005 family-friendly film will be returning to our screens.

We Can Be Heroes the new movie will be called, and it will feature the heroic pair as adults raising a daughter who has been equipped with both of her parents’ abilities. It follows a team of superheroes much like the Avengers, but the group all have children with powers who don’t necessarily know how to use them. Trouble is on the horizon, and it’s up to the kids to understand their true potential to face against the opposing evil forces.

The film is in its final stages of post-production. Rodriguez had already shot scenes and was in the middle of editing We Can Be Heroes when the Coronavirus pandemic struck the world. As of now, he’s scoring the music remotely, with the musicians in another room. “I can’t be in the orchestra room as usual. They’re all sitting six feet apart in Vienna, it’s a wild time,” said Rodriguez. He shared the [email protected] discussion with fellow directors Colin Trevorrow and Joseph Kosinski.
