Once Deadpool 3 wraps, Shawn Levy could direct a Star Wars movie, Variety confirmed today. No details are known about the possible project as it is just in negotiations of him helming a film of the beloved sci-fi franchise.

If Shawn Levy were to direct a Star Wars movie, that would be huge, but he is quite busy. As stated, he needs to finish work on the next Deadpool with Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, who is reprising his role as Wolverine, marking the debut of both heroes in the MCU. As that is set to hit theaters in November 2024, he still has work at Netflix. The director and producer will continue his work on Stranger Things, which is in the process of developing its final season. He is also in post-production of the Netflix limited series All the Light We Cannot See.

Deadpool 3 keeping Shawn Levy busy; maybe not too busy for a Star Wars movie

Shows for the franchise have been going fairly smoothly as we are in the middle of Andor and having to look forward to The Mandalorian season 3, Ahsoka, and more. On the movie side, things are dicey in the galaxy far, far away. Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios is set to produce his own film, Taika Waititi has one to direct, Rian Johnson has a trilogy, and more, but none of those have any details. J.D. Dillard (Devotion) was set to helm an entry, but that fell through, as The Wrap reported.

On top of his work on Deadpool 3 and possibly Star Wars, Shawn Levy has become prolific in Hollywood through producing and directing. Regardless of what he did for the project, he has worked on Free Guy, The Adam Project, Stranger Things, Arrival, The Internship, and Night at the Museum. He is also set to direct the sci-fi film, Starman.
