A new trailer for Shazam Fury of the Gods has been released at Warner Bros. San Diego Comic-Con Panel. The trailer sees the return of Zachary Levi as the titular hero, alongside Asher Angel as his high school alter ego, Billy Batson. Shazam 2 is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2022.

It will also star Rachel Zegler as one of the Daughters of Atlas, a new godly group not linked to the comics, alongside Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Meagan Good, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, and Grace Fulton.

What We Can Expect to See in Shazam Fury of the Gods

Shazam Fury of the Gods will see the return of director David F. Sandberg and writer Henry Gayden, with Fast and Furious writer Chris Morgan on as a co-writer.

The trailer shows an adult Billy Batson beginning to question his ability to be a real hero, comparing himself to the likes of the Justice League. It is not until a group of ancient, superpowered women called the Daughters of Atlas appear with a powerful staff in their possession that he is sprung into action again. In this film, the Daughters of Atlas is a new group that is the children of the same gods Billy and his foster siblings draw their power from. They are determined to take that power away from them by any means necessary.

Although Shazam 2 was originally slated to be released in 2023, DC’s recent release date shake-up helped move it back into the December 2022 slot.  Black Adam will now precede Shazam Fury of the Gods on October 21, 2022, which also received a new trailer at the San Diego Comic-Con. Dwayne Johnson will be making an appearance as the titular villain. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will follow it on March 17, 2023.
