Developers might be limiting their projects for Nintendo 3DS in favour of its hybrid successor Nintendo Switch, but there are still some relevant releases to come to the portable console during this year. This is the case of the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, a remake of the spin-off from the veteran RPG series originally released on Nintendo DS. The game was released in Japan in October of 2017, and today Atlus has announced that it will reach the North American on May 15, while Europe will receive it on May 18.

Strange Journey follows a special ops team sent to investigate a distortion detected on the surface of the Antartica known as the Schwarzwelt. Once there, they discover a portal connecting Earth to another world filled with demonic creaturse, with some of them crossing over to this side. The protagonists will need to capture some of these creatures in order to face the invasion, with the gameplay following the traditonal style of turn-based battles.

This Redux version will add some additional story content related to the appearance of a mysterious woman named Alex, while there will also be new demons, a new dungeon to explore, and all-new endings for the story.

If you want to see the game in movement check out this lengthy trailer from the Japanese version, reviewing all the graphic enhancements and gameplay features. If you own a Nintendo Switch, remember that the next mainline Shin Megami Tensei is coming to the console.
