Creators can now submit their manga from anywhere in the world, including Japan. Those that submit through the Manga Plus Creators by Shueisha can also have their stories viewable through the original Manga Plus service.

The platform will also hold monthly manga awards, judged by the Shonen Jump + Editorial Department. They will then publish the winning entries on both platforms in Japanese and award up to a one million yen ($7,200) cash prize.

Shonen Jump+ and Manga Plus: Making Manga Accessible

The Manga plus and Shonen Jump+ app was first launched in September 2014. Since its launch, it began serializing many popular manga series for free. In addition to these mangas, the service most notably began serializing the second part of the Chainsaw Man manga on July 13th, 2022. The editorial department also announced that all new manga on the Shonen Jump+ app and website will be launched simultaneously in English on MP from 2023 onwards.

Shueisha also launched the Manga Plus service in January 2019. This launched the first time the service had dipped its toes into a global market. The service publishes new chapters of currently serialized manga from Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine as they are published in Japan.  Currently, the platform has over 6 million active users. Most recently, the service removed restrictions for all languages based on region.

Currently, Shueisha’s Manga Plus service is free to use for all users. As stated before, it is available in all languages without regional restrictions. Shonen Jump+ is free to read for a while. But, as readers go on, they must sign up to keep reading at $1.99 a month.
