Shovel Knight released back in 2014 on Wii U, 3DS, and PC, and then later coming to other platforms like PS4 and Xbox One. Even with it being multiplatform though, Shovel Knight has always seemed to have a close connection with Nintendo first, including Shovel Knight even having his own amiibo. As a result, it was no real surprise to hear that not only was Shovel Knight coming to the Nintendo Switch, but its upcoming Specter of Torment DLC was coming to Switch first and we may now know when it will be arriving.

The Nintendo Switch has a rather weak launch day lineup outside of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, but there are some promised other games coming soon after that have us excited. One of those is Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment, and it looks like it might be coming in that first month.

According to the official Nintendo website, Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment will be releasing in March 2017 for the Nintendo Switch. Like many non-dated releases on Nintendo’s website, it doesn’t specify a date, but just a general “March 2017” release window.

This is great news to here, though we are still going to wait and hear it straight from Yacht Club Games first, which may come before PAX South is over this weekend. It does makes a lot of sense though, as it would be a good addition to the Switch lineup due to the timed exclusivity.

For those that don’t know, this game has had a number of free DLC expansions in the past and Specter of Torment is the third of those. However, with Shovel Knight obviously coming to the Switch for the first time, you will have to buy the game itself, which will be available in one of two forms. Specter of Torment by itself can be purchased on the Switch for $9.99, while Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is the combined collection of all three that will cost $24.99 on the Switch when it releases.
