More information on HBO Max’s upcoming Green Lantern is coming to light. Seth Grahame-Smith serves as showrunner alongside co-writer Marc Guggenheim for this project years in the making. HBO Max has yet to reveal any castings or whether it’ll tie into the DCEU, but there’s still plenty of excitement around the project. That excitement should build now that Sinestro has been confirmed as a series regular.

Who is Sinestro?

Sinestro is a major player in the Green Lantern mythos. In the comics, Sinestro was once considered the greatest Lantern of them all. But when he betrays the Corps and uses his ring to take over his planet, he’s defeated by his fellow Lanterns. He turns his back on the Corps and takes up a yellow ring to become their greatest enemy.

Now a report from ComicBookMovie.com reveals the casting breakdown for Sinestro and teases what to expect from the fan-favorite character:

“[THAAL SINESTRO] (Male, 40s, any ethnicity) The greatest of all the Green Lanterns, Sinestro is akin to a warrior monk, the personification of grace under pressure. He serves as the strategic commander for the Corps and all Lanterns follow his orders without question. Although he is revered for his unmatched willpower and wisdom, a darker destiny belied his otherwise Zen demeanor. [SERIES REGULAR]”

It will be interesting to see how they bring Sinestro into the series without using his greatest enemy, Hal Jordan. But Sinestro is just the most recent character description to get revealed. Months ago, the Illuminerdi revealed other breakdowns for Alan Scott, Guy Gardner, and a new character named Bree Jarta.
