Phoenix Labs has shared an infographic showcasing the statistics for their recently released free-to-play game Dauntless. The data reveals that six million gamers have played Dauntless in the first week of the launch.

Dauntless is a free-to-play, role-playing game that was released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 21. The game received a lot of attention because of the cross-platform support available in the game right from day one.

Cross-platform allows players on different consoles to play online together. That means someone playing Dauntless on the PS4 can play with someone who has it on the Xbox One.

Dauntless’ developers, Phoenix Labs, shared an infographic that showed off the data for the first week of the game.

According to the infographic, six million players, or “Slayers,” tried out Dauntless in its first week. Other statistics include how many weapons forge (25,000,000), what percentage of parties are cross-play (60%), and how many hours played (15,000,000). Humorously, the stat at the very bottom reveals how many dogs “Slayers” have a pet. There are too many dogs to count.

These are no doubt impressive statistics, especially given that Dauntless is a new IP. In my opinion, the two main reasons behind this massive success of Dauntless are “free-to-play” and “Cross-Platform” support. It is because of these two features. Dauntless was able to find a big audience.

The game’s future is looking bright, let’s hope the development team keeps the momentum going with content updates.
