The nighttime session of the “Sk8 Masquerade of Love” event made an important announcement Saturday evening. The Sk8 the Infinity anime will have a new anime project and two-part stage production. As of now, the anime’s official Twitter and official website will release more details regarding both.

How Sk8 the Infinity Took the World By Storm

Sk8 the Infinity centers around a second-year high schooler named Reiki. With his love and for skateboarding he gets caught up in “S” ( an underground and dangerous skateboarding race). On top of that, he must also teach the new exchange student, Langa, how to skate after he accidentally gets wrapped up in “S” as well.

The anime first premiered on January 9 and has since gained a loyal following of both sports anime fans and casual fans alike. Many are calling it a new take on the sports genre, because the main theme of the show is centered around doing what you love, rather than winning. He isn’t a prodigy or even a natural skater, but he never gives up on doing what makes him happy. Along with Reiki, many of the characters must navigate the world of skating to find out what it is they really have a passion for, all while dealing with their own personal traumas that come from it.

Hiroko Utsumi (Banana Fish, Free!-Iwatobi Swim Club) directed the original anime. Studio Bones (Fullmetal Alchemist, Ouran High School Host Club) is responsible for the animation for the series. Currently, Funimation is streaming both the English sub and the Dub on their website.

This news is the latest update SK8 the Infinity fans have heard since February, where an official manga spinoff is in the works. Along with that, a spinoff to the manga titled Sk8 Chill Out! is also available to read on Kadokawa’s Young Ace Up manga website.

The first part of the stage play will open in December, while the second part will open next January. Meanwhile, more details regarding the Sk8 the Infinity anime will release via their social media channels.
