For some strange reason the Skate 3 servers are back online.

Something quite strange is happening with Skate 3 that’s got many thinking that E3 2018 will hold some sort of announcement regarding the series.  For those that have been holding out hope that EA will come to their senses and make a Skate 4, recent activity on the Skate 3 servers might be signalling just that.

Today, back-end servers returned for Skate 3 and this is allowing players to access content in the game that’s long been gone due to these servers being offline.  This includes things like lobbies, community created parks, and more.

Clarification:  Servers for Skate 3 have been available for some things (like playing online), just not the aforementioned sharing and social features.

This in itself doesn’t necessarily mean that Skate 4 is coming, but it very well could be.  Another possible scenario would be that EA is remastering the game, giving it the treatment that they gave Burnout Paradise earlier this year.  Or, someone could’ve accidentally flipped a switch.  Regardless, it’s rare that a publisher will turn servers back on after sunsetting services.

E3 2018 is just days away, and EA will take the stage first on Saturday, June 9th with other publishers and platform holders to follow.  Perhaps one EA’s surprises is that Skate 4 is in the works, but it’s just a rumor at this point.
