Activision revealed that the 2014 Call of Duty release will be developed by Sledgehammer Games, in an investor earnings call on Thursday.

The publisher says “for the first, this years Call of Duty game, and future Call of Duty games, are being built on a three year development cycle.” The company also mentioned that this will give the creators more time to innovate and improve on previous years titles.

This makes Treyarch’s presumed Black Ops 3 come in 2015 and Infinity Ward’s sequel to Call of Duty: Ghosts come in 2016. It has been rumored that Sledgehammer Games Call of Duty will be the next game in the Modern Warfare franchise.

Sledgehammer Games previous work was being a co-developer during the development of the last Modern Warfare game.
