Bokeh Game Studio, the new development studio founded by Silent Hill co-creator Keiichiro Toyama, finally revealed its first game at The Game Awards 2021, called Slitterhead. The trailer showcased pretty disturbing monster designs, which seem to be infecting humans and transforming their hosts’ bodies into creatures straight out of hell, with Hong Kong slums as its setting. Meanwhile, Akira Yamaoka, famous for his works on Silent Hill, is the game’s composer. However, aside from location and monster looks details about the game are still scarce. Bokeh Game Studio is yet to announce a release window or platform for Slitterhead.

Previously, Keiichiro Toyama has talked about his reason for forming Bokeh Game Studio to forge his own path and make a really “dark” horror concept where regular people are driven into “irrational situations.” Taking inspirations from the “death game” genre, something akin to Battle Royale, Koyama wants to convey a horror idea where normal people are forced to adapt to and try to survive in an outlandish situation.

Slitterhead creator Toyama himself is known for his work on the original 1999’s Silent Hill before joining Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Studio. There, he worked on another disturbing horror series, Siren. He eventually left SCEJ back in December last year. Two long-time partners of his, Kazunobu Sato (The Last Guardian) and Junya Okura (Gravity Rush), also joined the new studio as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Miki Takahashi, creature designer for Siren: Blood Curse and concept and lighting artist for Knack II, is also a part of this new studio.
