Today is the big yearly event for SMITE as it has officially launched the Season 9 event on all platforms. With the new season comes a whole new slew of changes and new content for players. Hi-Rez Studios is looking to make significant changes to their game, bringing players more exciting gameplay and easier access for new players.
A new game mode comes with Season 9
The first big part of the update is the new game mode, Slash. Fans have highly anticipated the game mode since its announcement back in 2021. Slash provides a fusion of fast-paced action and strategy, mixing a fan favorite from Siege, summonable Juggernauts with the five on five two-lane experience of Clash.
The new mode will also be a new map featuring artistic inspirations from the Maya and Egyptians. In addition, the map is built, allowing more team fights and meaningful objective play. The juggernauts also update with a new look, a distinct take after Apophis, the mode’s Giant Jungle Boss.
Hi-Rez Studio’s first update comes with the new Dharmic Era Conquest map, the first of three for the game. In addition, the Hindu-themed map will feature a new gameplay mechanic, Obelisks. Teams must work together by either lying enemies, including a new one, the Naga, or by stealing from the opposing team. In addition, the first to fill the obelisk will receive a mobile team tool. Indra’s Scepter, this new tool can either attack nearby enemies or heal nearby allies and structures.
Elevating the game of SMITE
Also arriving to SMITE today with the season 9 event, a new item. Glyphs will be available for everyone and in every mode. Amassing a total of ten glyphs will allow players to upgrade select Tier 3 items further, giving unique power bonuses.
Relics have also seen a significant change that will affect gameplay within SMITE for the future. All relics can be upgraded to Tier 3, giving players more utility and versatility to access even more significant unique effects. Fans will also see the god of music Apollo receives a new model update with the previous one dating back to the birth of SMITE.
Lastly, Season 9 will come will new limited events. Players can earn their way through the new battle pass, Hellfire Syndicate. In addition, players can also play through the Dharmic Era event, which will offer players free items to unlock. Including new Season 9 event Ranked rewards, including the Grave Golem Geb skin, acknowledging their commitment and performance in SMITE’s competitive mode.
