Gamers will soon be able to play Sniper Elite 4 on the Nintendo Switch, according to an announcement trailer which aired during today’s Nintendo Direct video.

While we don’t have an exact release date, development studio Rebellion Developments expects to ship the game sometime this year. Sniper Elite 4 on Switch will be available to purchase both digitally and  physically. Alongside the announcement of Switch announcement, Rebellion Developments also announced the game would be coming to PlayStation 4 in Japan for the first time. More news about that is promised to come in the future.

Sniper Elite 4 is the latest entry in the Sniper Elite series, which started in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 and original Xbox. Sniper Elite 4 originally released in 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. This entry in the series continues the World War II action seen in prior entries, with the Resistance fighting back against an all new threat to the Allied forces.

The game combines the freedom of sniping with stealth elements, giving players plenty of tactical options on how they wish to play. Sniper Elite 4 features large campaign levels, the ability to upgrade and customize skills and weapons, kill cams, and numerous ways to tactically traverse landscapes. When we reviewed the game back in 2017 we thought it was great, with addictive combat and large, diverse levels.

For the release of Sniper Elite 4 on Switch, Rebellion Developments made use of some of the unique features the Switch offers. This includes the ability to aim using the motion controls on the Joy-Cons, support for HD Rumble, and support for the Switch’s Pro Controller. More info about the port is promised to come before its release later this year.
