Solasta: Crown of the Magister is coming to Steam Early Access on October 20th, 2020. The announcement also dropped with an all-new trailer showing off new effects, spells, and areas in the tactical RPG.
Solasta is based on the Fifth Edition rules for Dungeons and Dragons. It plays similarly to Baldur’s Gate, Pillars of Eternity, and Dragon Age and will feature similar new things to Baldur’s Gate 3. It will be interesting to see the differences between BG3 and Solasta as both are hitting Early Access within one month of each other.
As for the Early Access content, Tactical Adventures says it will include 10 hours of gameplay that covers all of the first act of the game and a bit of the second.
The full game should last around 40 hours, baring any side quests, of course, and difficulty, of course. Tactical says they would like to release the complete version six months after Early Access; however, that all depends on the development process.
One major difference between BG3 and Solasta comes in the form of lore. D&D already has several established worlds that feature different pantheons. Solasta’s world, in contrast, has been created from scratch.
It wasn’t all that long ago when Tactical Adventures revealed their upcoming game would be available to play. In August, the development team promised more news in the coming weeks, and they did not disappoint. Everyone who plays Early Access will be able to discuss bugs or present ideas through Solasta’s discord.
