The Sonic 2 Movie Poster Does Not Disappoint

Sega and Paramount could have gone the lazy route and released a black background with just the logo and the release date on it. But give credit where credit is due, this is a studio and that went back and spent millions to redo the CGI on its main character when Sonic fans turned their nose up at the original design of Sonic. Lazy they are not.

Accordingly, the Sonic 2 movie poster is packed with action. You know what Sonic is all about. Explosions, missiles, deadly robots, and Jim Carrey’s maniacal Dr. Robotnik are present and accounted for. And right in the foreground is, of course, our hero Sonic and his sidekick Tails, introduced at the end of the first film. Fingers crossed that we’ll see Knuckles in Thursday’s Sonic 2 trailer.

Until then, long-time fans of the series will probably spend most of the day screaming “Ahhhhh! Ahhhhh! It’s the Tornado! Sonic is on top of the Tornado and Tails is piloting! Ahhhhh!” It’s the little details that make us happy.

With the long and tragic history of lousy videogame movies, fans were ready to be let down last year. Chanting a litany of “Please don’t suck. Please don’t suck. Please don’t suck”, many of us held our breath and took the plunge and…came away absolutely delighted. The story worked, the acting was excellent, and the action was top-notch. It was a good movie for both fans of the game and people who didn’t know a damn thing about it. That takes talent and they pulled it off with style.

And while sequels don’t always live up to the originals, there is an awful lot of untouched material in the Sonic universe. If Sega and Paramount play this right, we could all be in for another amazing adventure with our favorite blazing blue ball of fur. Until then, we’ll have to make do with the Sonic 2 movie poster and impending trailer.
