Sonic Frontiers debuted a couple of days ago, and it seems like it received pretty cool feedback from the players. Although players are worried about the franchise’s entry into the open-world setting, the game’s sales figures show this step is quite correct. Sonic Team’s most recent game in the long-term franchise, Sonic Frontiers, breaks the series’ new Steam concurrent players record. So, here are the details.

Sonic Frontiers Breaks Series’ Record on Steam: 19,181 Concurrent Players

Sonic Frontiers got off to a great start on Steam. According to SteamDB, the title reached over 19,000 concurrent players at the time of its release. The game’s all-time peak is at 19,181 concurrent players. The previous record of the series was broken by Sonic Mania five years ago with 11,937 simultaneous players. Meanwhile, SteamDB is a database for Valve’s platform, providing analytics and other information about the games sold on it. It looks like Sonic Frontiers will continue to break new records.

As Sonic the Hedgehog, the player explores the mysterious Starfall Islands to collect the Chaos Emeralds after Sonic and his friends are separated when falling through a wormhole. Frontiers integrate platforming and traditional Sonic elements such as rings and grind rails into the series’ first open world. The player solves puzzles and beats challenges to collect items and fight against robotic enemies and colossal Titans.
