In the new Sonic Frontiers, there have been quite a few changes made to the combat system, making it much more fun and complex. Now we are able to take on mini-bosses in combat like the Squid Guardian. You can find this boss floating through the air, with its giant purple glowing tail following close behind. However, with new mini-bosses and combat mechanics, Sonic Frontiers can get a bit difficult. That’s where we come in with this guide. Keep reading to learn how to beat the Squid Guardian in Sonic Frontiers.

Beating the Squid Guardian in Sonic Frontiers

To begin your fight with the massive Squid Guardian, you’ll have to scan over the map to find the red crossed swords icon. This will determine the Squid Guardian’s location. Once you get close, you’ll be able to find it in the skies, floating around with its massive purple tail in tow. Once you get close enough, a short cutscene will play before you can actually begin your fight.

When the fight begins, you’ll face the giant Squid Guardian hovering in front of you. Now, the fight will happen in two different phases, and you’ll have to change the way you try to take it down in each of them. In the first phase, you’ll spend your time running up the Squid Guardian’s tail to get to his head, where you will have to perform a Homing Attack. The second phase will consist of some closer combat. The Squid Guardian’s back will double as a platform for you to stand on where you can fight.

You’ll have to hop onto the Squid Guardian’s tail for the first phase. It won’t be hard to get on, and you won’t fall off. However, once you make it onto the Squid Guardian’s tail, you’ll have to spend some time trying to run up to where the head is. It’ll feel a lot like an endless runner game. There will be three separate lanes you can run up the tail on, and you’ll have to switch between them to avoid projectiles that the Squid Guardian will launch toward you to get you off his tail. Using your boost can get you closer to its head and within range so that you can use your Homing Attack on the Squid Guardian’s head.

How to Increase Defense and Attack in Sonic Frontiers

For the second phase, you’ll have to get up close and personal with Sonic Frontier‘s Squid Guardian. However, the Squid Guardian only has one melee attack type and one defense type. The melee attack is done when the Squid Guardian crosses its tentacles, and the defensive move is a protective shield that it puts up to avoid being bombed by projectiles. The Squid Guardian still uses a projectile attack, but the projectiles can easily be parried, while the melee attack can be dodged. To take down the Squid Guardian in Sonic Frontiers, you’ll have to wait for its shield to be down and attack its head to take down its health.

This is everything you need to know to beat the Squid Guardian in Sonic Frontiers! Good luck, and be sure to check back for more guides.
